Cause the sun don't shine here everyday and there's a world out there to see...

(Joe Brooks - World At Our Feet)

My dad and sister came down to London to visit me this weekend, and it was great! I really miss my family and friends (and dogs) when I'm here in uni, so seeing them made me happy. We spent saturday in covent garden, and then went to see Blood Brothers at the Phoenix Theatre. The show was good, I'd seen it before at home in Liverpool, so I knew what to expect. The play is based in Liverpool though, and being a scouser, I could tell that some of the accents were a bit off, but other than that it was really good. I love the play, and got all nostalgic watching it because I studied that play for GCSE Drama, and have so many memories from it, plus I realised I pretty much knew it word for word. My dad was made up because one of the actors was Marti Pellow from Wet Wet Wet (cue awkward emoticon). We then went to TGI Friday's for tea, a family favourite, and I ate so much, it was amazing.

On sunday we went in to Camden for brunch, and then basically just sat in the sun all day drinking which I loved because this is the first bit of sun I've been able to enjoy this year. It's been so sunny this weekend, and I've spent all day today, and yesterday evening sitting on the grass playing music, drinking cider, and I seriously hope this never ends.

I'm a bit gutted I'm not going to be home for Mother's Day, but I've already become prepared, as I've ordered some flowers from Interflora to be delivered with a cute note, and I've written her a letter which I'm going to post to her in time. I'll obviously give her a call and make sure she's having a nice day with my sister, but it's just not the same. I'm never usually fussed about those sorts of days, but being in a different city makes me miss things that I never thought would phase me.

In other news, I've joined a new gym with my flatmate, and we're going to start this week! Part of our fitness plan to look even slightly attractive this summer on the beach/at festivals/chillin' at home/whatever else I'll be doing. I used to play sports a lot until last year, and last summer I used the gym at home, but since coming to uni I haven't really done any exercise, and I'm starting to feel really lazy and conscious of my weight. I don't seem to have put too much weight on, but I'm definitely less toned, and that's annoying me. Hopefully this will go well though, and I'll keep you updated!

  1. Sounds like a great weekend!
Good luck with the gym, I bet you don't even need it!

    1. This comment made me smile, thank you :)
