If you're a bird, I'm a bird.

I didn't think Valentine's Day would bother me this year. I've never actually celebrated it, and this year was no exception. Normally I'm happy to ignore it and it's never phased me at all. However, this year, being in a new city, with new people, I may have had a change of heart. I don't dislike being single, in fact, I'm happy this way, but when I'm living with people who are in relationships, Valentine's Day seems just that bit more important.

At home, most of my friends are single, in fact, most people my age are single. However, here it seems lots of people are in committed relationships and it seems so grown up. I spent the yesterday doing average things, and I wasn't really bothered until about 2am, when I'd watched the new episodes of my favourite tv shows, painted my nails, tanned my legs, and was about to watch a film, when suddenly every film I could think of was filled with romance - not what I had in mind. It was then I realised how my attitude had changed towards these sorts of things. Did I really care whether I was in a true relationship, or did I just want to be spoilt like all the other girls? I'm not too sure, but all I knew in that moment is watching films like The Notebook and Sleepless in Seattle were just going to dampen my mood further.

Another reason for me to be down is that we have a thief in the flat. I went to get some ice cream to cheer myself up, and someone had eaten it! I'm sorry, but since when did the whole 'what's mine is yours' motto apply to student accommodation?!
